Concluding successfully was the Workplace Learning Talk on the Senior Leadership Community of Practice (CoP), jointly organised by the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) and the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE), led by Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP).
Ms Sabine Florian, Deputy General Manager of SGC, opened the event and offered insightful perspectives in her welcome message about on the ingrained culture of workplace learning in Germany. She emphasised that both industries and educators prioritise a continuous provision of training opportunities to staff, not only for the advancement of the company, but also for the holistic well-being of the employees.
The distinguished Guest of Honour for the event was His Excellency Dr Norbert Riedel, the German Ambassador to Singapore. Ambassador Riedel delivered an inspiring address, urging not only NYP NACE but the entire Singaporean community to steadfastly pursue workplace learning, citing the resounding success of this approach in Germany. He expressed his gratification at Singapore's proactive engagement in this endeavour and wholeheartedly commended the event's organisers for their exceptional efforts in bringing it to fruition.
This sentiment was further underscored by notable SGC member companies, namely SICK Product Centre Asia and Bosch Rexroth. Mr Jack Goh, Managing Director of SICK, articulated his company's approach to workplace learning, emphasising the significance of transparent information dissemination across the entire organisation. To this end, SICK embraces the acronym KPI, signifying "Keep Personnel Informed." Similarly, Mr Julian Siegler, Technical Specialist, Master Trainer, at the Bosch Rexroth Regional Training Centre, expounded upon his company's comprehensive training regimens accessible to all employees. At Bosch Rexroth, a constant array of training opportunities is available, illustrating a steadfast commitment to empowering the workforce.
Ultimately, the central theme that emerged from these insights is the empowerment of the labour force. This empowerment not only enhances the proficiency and skill set of employees but also contributes significantly to the overall prosperity and growth of the company.
