The SGC had the pleasure of hosting 12 German companies as part of the Pharma & Biotech Delegation 2023, under the market entry programme funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Climate Action (BMWK). The delegation kickstarted with a briefing by experts from the SGC, Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI), the German Embassy Singapore, Luther Singapore and Agape-Life Medtech & Healthcare Group, who provided insights on market entry and developments in Singapore. The delegates also visited the Life Science Incubator at the German Centre, where they learnt about opportunities for co-innovation at the lab and incubator.
On Day 2, we had a wonderful turnout of more than 100 attendees at the business symposium. The event was opened by Dr Tim Philippi and Ms Yildiz Goetze (GTAI), with pitches by the 12 delegates and key-note speeches from Dr Lim Jui (SGinnovate) about developments in the pharma and biotech space in Singapore and Axel Lohse (GTAI) about German capabilities and the huge potential for Singaporean companies in Germany and the EU. The presentations highlighted countless opportunities for collaboration between Singaporean and German companies to develop solutions to bring about a more holistic, thriving ecosystem. The symposium was a great success and has undeniably shown the high interest in technologies that advance healthcare and strive to make the world a better place.
Almost 50 individual business meetings were arranged by the SGC for the delegates, as they were introduced to potential partners such as esteemed companies operating in the fields of biopharmaceuticals, in-vitro testing, and drug development amongst others .
Overall, the delegation was a huge success, which was only possible with the great help of our supporting partners, namely Biotech Connection Singapore, German Health Alliance, Institute for Health Innovation & Technology, Life Science Incubator, SGinnovate, and Singapore Health Technology Consortium, our German delegation acquisition partner SBS systems for business solutions, whom we would like to thank for their invaluable support as well as our colleagues from AHK Malaysia who took over the delegation for the second half of the week.
